The Real Life Project works alongside schools and alternative provision settings to support young people who need a different kind of environment to thrive. If you have a young person who could benefit, we want to hear from you.
Who we work with
We work with young people aged 11–16 who are finding mainstream education difficult — whether that's due to exclusion, persistent absence, social and emotional needs, or other barriers to engagement.
Our programme is designed to complement, not replace, the work of schools and AP settings. We provide structured, real-world experiences that build confidence, skills, and a sense of purpose.
We work closely with referring schools and settings throughout the placement, keeping you informed and involved every step of the way.

All staff are DBS checked and trained in safeguarding. We follow robust policies and procedures at all times.
How the referral process works
Submit an enquiry
Complete the referral enquiry form below. Tell us about the young person and what you're hoping the programme can offer them. You don't need to share sensitive personal data at this stage.
Initial conversation
We'll get back to you within a few working days to arrange a conversation. We'll discuss the young person's needs, our current capacity, and whether the programme is the right fit.
Assessment and planning
If we agree to proceed, we'll carry out an initial assessment with the young person and their family. Together we'll build a personalised plan for their time with us.
Placement begins
The young person starts attending the programme. We provide regular updates to the referring school or setting and work collaboratively on any emerging needs.
Review and transition
At agreed review points, we assess progress together. We'll support a planned transition back to education, employment, or further provision when the time is right.
