The Real Life Project is a place where you can learn real skills, meet real people, and build a real future — on your terms.
What is The Real Life Project?
We work with young people aged 14–19 who aren't in mainstream education — whether that's because school hasn't worked out, or because you need something different.
This isn't another classroom. It's hands-on, practical, and built around what you're actually interested in. You'll work alongside real employers, visit real workplaces, and leave with real experience on your CV.
Most importantly — you'll be treated like an adult, with respect, from day one.
Who we work with
- Young people aged 14–19
- Those in alternative provision or excluded from mainstream school
- Young people referred by schools or local authorities
- Anyone who needs a different approach to learning
What does a typical week look like?
Practical skills sessions
From construction and mechanics to catering and creative arts — you choose what you want to learn.
work experience
Get out into the real world. Visit businesses, shadow professionals, and build connections that matter.
Trips and experiences
We go places. From the Angel of the North to local businesses — learning happens everywhere.
Maths & English support
We help you work towards your qualifications in a way that actually makes sense to you.
Personal development
Build confidence, communication skills, and the self-belief to take on whatever comes next.
CV & interview prep
Leave with a CV you're proud of and the skills to walk into any interview with confidence.
